Firewalls – Advanced Security Programs for Personal & Professional Use

Firewall is a security program designed for getting access to any data whether it should be allowed to enter in your system or not as per given set of rules. It is commonly used to protect network from all the unwanted stuff that is flowing all over the internet. Most people know that it is designed to keep hackers out of their personal data while all other network functioning normally.

But the irony is most of these people don’t know the technical things associated with firewall. Firstly you should know there are two types of firewall namely Personal & Network. Though they are designed to do the same function but the system on which they are used are different. As the name suggest personal Firewall is used in your home PC whereas Network is used in an organization such as IT industry in the main router to protect every computer attached with it from all malicious programs.

You may have a misconception that firewall is a hardware device but firewalls are always software. There are computer & routers which have preinstalled firewalls but these are also software. The main point of firewall connection should be with internet. The hackers are king of internet. If you enter their reign you have to carry your safety weapons with you. So to beware of hackers and from virus, firewall must be installed in every computer.

If a computer is protect from network firewall then it’s not necessary it would require an additional personal firewall too but for laptops you would require it. Laptops require personal protection because they connect to various networks at one time and to internet via Wi-Fi which is restriction-free path for virus to enter.

Microsoft Windows comes with Firewall software installed but you have to turn on the display warning to keep your computer protected otherwise it is not safe. But all the operating system of Windows like Vista, 7 & XP don’t keep a check on outbound connections and their security settings are difficult to change. So it is preferable to use an external firewall as they are inexpensive & efficient to protect you from any dangerous worms and virus in the network.

In an organization where there are millions of bytes of data to be kept safe for a long time, it’s very necessary to protect it from any smallest dangerous thing. Remember the statistics reveal that everyday more than 40,000 new virus are set free by the hackers on internet. Now you are aware of the extent of danger spread around you, so use the most effective way to fight with it!
